Armenia negotiates arms purchases with several countries - Security Council Secretary
YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. Armenia is holding intensive arms procurement talks with several countries, the Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan said in an interview with Public Television.
In an earlier interview with the Russian opposition newspaper Novaya Gazeta Armen Grigoryan said Russia was not supplying Armenia with weapons despite several defense contracts (reportedly worth hundreds of US dollars) signed by the two sides.
According to him, this is the reason why the Armenian military has to look for alternative sources of arms supplies.
"If Armenia has a problem, it is looking for alternative solutions until the problem between Armenia and Russia in terms of arms supplies is solved," he said.
He also said that during a working visit to Minsk next week, if possible, he will discuss the issue of arms supplies with the Russian side. -0-
