YEREVAN, November 4. / ARKA /. The government of Armenia is ready to put forth  new proposals for increasing its cooperation with the European Union, Armenian economy minister Karen Chshmarityan said Wednesday during the sixteenth session of the Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee in Yerevan.
He said the sides will discuss a large array of issues -from economic, cultural and scientific ties to political relations.

He said almost all Armenian government agencies will present their proposals and suggestions concerning, in particular, cooperation in agriculture, energy, transport and communications.

Chshmarityan said also that Armenia and the European Union  will sign soon the Horizon 2020 agreement, which he said is the financial instrument of the European Commission that runs from 2014 to 2020 with a 70.2 billion euros budget. Last month the European Union granted a 75% discount to Armenia for its membership fee to the Horizon 2020 Program.

European External Action Service Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE Gunnar Wiegand has said that both sides worked long to determine the new legal framework of their relations.  He  expressed the confidence that the new agreement will serve both Armenia’s and EU’s interests.

During the meeting today the parties also discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, as well as issues relating to Armenia –Turkey relations.

Armenia's trade with the EU countries in January-September 2015 dropped by 25.8% from the year before to approximately $881 million. -0-
