YEREVAN, October 4. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has submitted today a demand to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) requesting that it apply an interim measure against Turkey, Armenian government's representative to ECHR said in a Facebook post.
"In view of Turkey's multilateral support to Azerbaijan's attacks on the civilian population and facilities of Artsakh and Armenia, accompanied by gross violations of international humanitarian law and the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as its continued involvement in hostilities, Armenia has submitted a demand requesting that ECHR apply an interim measure against Turkey, as stipulated by the Rule 39 of its Rules of Court," the government's representative said.
The European Court of Human Rights may, under Rule 39 of its Rules of Court, indicate interim measures to any State party to the European Convention on Human Rights. Interim measures are urgent measures which, according to the Court’s well-established practice, apply only where there is an imminent risk of irreparable harm. Such measures are decided in connection with proceedings before the Court without prejudging any subsequent decisions on the admissibility or merits of the case in question.
Recently, the ECHR satisfied Armenia's demand to apply an interim measure against Azerbaijan.
According to Armenian military sources, more than 3.4 thousand Azerbaijani soldiers have been killed in the fighting that was started by Azerbaijan on September 27 morning and about 4.3 thousand have been wounded. The Artsakh armed forces have destroyed about 380 tanks and armored vehicles, 4 Smerch, Uragan multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), 3 TOS-1A MLRS, 113 UAVs, 17 helicopters and 14 warplanes.
According to the defense ministries of Armenia and Artsakh, during the repulse of the aggression, more than 200 Armenian servicemen have been killed and several hundred wounded. -0-
