YEREVAN, July 31. /ARKA/. Residents of Armenia began to view Russia as a less friendly country, according to the study “Caucasian Barometer - 2019”, conducted by the Caucasus Research Resource Center.

The survey was conducted from February 21 to March 15, 2020 among 1491 adult respondents, 31% of whom live in Yerevan, 33% in other cities, and 36% in villages. It is mentioned that 55% of the survey’s respondents are men, the main part - 35% of respondents with secondary education, and about 52% have a job.

“About 57% of the population of Armenia pointed out Russia as the most friendly country. However, despite the high indicator, the level of trust has decreased in recent years, because back in 2017, Russia was indicated as the most friendly country by 63% of respondents, in 2015 - by 75%, and in 2013 – by 83%,” the study says.

To the request to point out any second most popular country the answer was “none,” 17% of the respondents think so.

France was mentioned as the third popular country, which was called friendly to Armenia by 12% of respondents, while 4 years ago only 4% of respondents considered it as such.

Azerbaijan remains the most hostile country in the opinion of 75% of respondents. In 2015 and 2017 76% thought so. Turkey is the second hostile country (22% of respondents). In 2015 to 2017, 18% of respondents considered it hostile.

The study has been conducted since 2004 in three countries - Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan and is aimed at presenting the main political, economic and social trends. --0--
