Armenia’s announcement to join customs union manifested its intention not to sign association agreement
YEREVAN, December 23. / ARKA /. Armenia’s announcement about joining the Moscow-led Customs Union was in fact the demonstration of its intention not to sign the Association Agreement with the European Union, according to Alexander Iskandaryan, the director of the Caucasus Institute in Yerevan.

Speaking at a news conference he said it is not clear how developments may unfold in future. According to him, Armenia may not after all join the Russia-led trade bloc.

"I'm not at all sure that the Customs Union will last through the next 5-6 years. I'm not sure if it does, Armenia will be a member of it. I'm not sure either if Armenia joins it formally it will be a real member country," he said.

Iskandaryan also noted that drawing a «road map" for Armenia’s accession does guarantee real accession. "Let us wait and see ,"  he said. -0-
