Armenia’s NSS warns of possible provocations near parliament building and criminal responsibility for organizers

YEREVAN, May 4. /ARKA/. The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia warned today of possible provocations in Yerevan saying their organizers and participants will be held criminally responsible.

The NSS said it has received reliable information that the organizers of anti-government protests in Yerevan are planning to provoke illegal actions during a regular session of the National Assembly today, to encourage demonstrators to seize the parliament building and destabilize the internal security of the country.

In a statement, the NSS strictly warned the demonstrators against illegal actions, saying otherwise, the organizers will bear all the responsibility for what happened.

The NSS called also on all law-abiding citizens not to succumb to provocations and refrain from illegal steps. Otherwise, they will equally share the brunt of criminal responsibility.

An opposition leader Ishkhan Saghatelyan called yesterday on opposition activists and supporters to gather in front of parliament building today afternoon where Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is expected to attend a Q&A session.

The opposition continued today blocking streets in Yerevan today morning. Some time ago the police reported that all roads in the capital were open to traffic.-

The opposition accuses Pashinyan of plans to give away all of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan after he told lawmakers last month that the "international community calls on Armenia to scale down demands on Karabakh".-0-
