Armenia’s representative appointed as secretary general of CSTO

Yuri Khachaturov, the secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council, was appointed today as secretary general of the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russian Interfax reported.

YEREVAN, April 14. /ARKA/. Yuri Khachaturov, the secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council, was appointed today as secretary general of the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russian Interfax reported.

It said the decision was approved by the heads of CSTO member countries during a gathering in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

"The heads of the CSTO states at an informal meeting in Bishkek unanimously adopted a decision on the appointment of Yuri Khachaturov as secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO),"  CSTO acting secretary general Valery Semerikov told Interfax. He said Khachaturov will take up his duties on May 2. 

CSTO members are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. -0-
