Armenia seeks to diversify military supplies- parliamentary committee head

YEREVAN, November 8. /ARKA/. Armenia is seeking to diversify its military supplies, said Andranik Kocharyan, chairman of the parliamentary committee on defense and security issues.
"We used to rely on one source of military supplies. Now we are looking for both new allies and new suppliers, which should become a basis for reforming our armed forces. It is no coincidence that our people are closely following all related developments," Kocharyan said.
He also commented on the public attention to the issue of arms supplies from different countries.
"When (defense) minister goes to France, everyone looks at what armament they have. Whether it is right or wrong is another question. When the minister goes to India, everyone looks at military achievements of that country and what can be acquired from it. As for Russia, we have signed several hundred million USD worth contract. Expecting the contracted weapons to be delivered to Armenia as soon as possible, we start worrying about our strategic allied relations (Russia failed to deliver the supplies and has not given back the money)," he told Public Television of Armenia.
Kocharyan said also that Armenia will no longer buy used weapons. Regarding the production of own armament, the MP noted that the budget allocates funds for the development of the national military-industrial complex. -0-
