YEREVAN, September 4. /ARKA/.  Armenia should decide through referendum to join the Customs Union or to sign the EU Association Agreement, Hrant Bagratyan, an MP from the Armenian National Assembly and a former prime minister, posted on his Facebook page.

“I was the only candidate in the presidential election who has made a call for such an approach. Don’t solve such problems alone, without people…”

Bagratyan also said that he had predicted such surprises before the signing of the Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area agreement.
“In fact, such a surprise happened yesterday.”

President Serzh Sargsyan said on Tuesday after talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow that Armenia will join the customs union led by Russia. Putin welcomed the move saying the Russian side supports the decision by Armenia to enter the customs union.

The decision means Armenia is unlikely to be able to sign the Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) agreement with EU, slated originally for November in Vilnius. ---0---
