Armenia to open embassy in Uruguay, consulate general in Iran

Armenia will open an embassy in Uruguay and a consulate general in the city of Tavriz in Iran, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at the parliamentary hearings of the 2023 state budget on Thursday.

YEREVAN, November 4. /ARKA/. Armenia will open an embassy in Uruguay and a consulate general in the city of Tavriz in Iran, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at the parliamentary hearings of the 2023 state budget on Thursday.

Mirzoyan recalled that earlier the Iranian consulate general was opened in Armenian Kapan. As for opening an embassy in Uruguay, the minister stressed that the embassy will serve as a platform for Armenia to develop relations with Latin American countries.

"We also plan to open diplomatic offices in Cyprus (it will operate as a division of the Armenian Embassy in Greece) and in Serbia's Belgrade (as a division of the Embassy in the Czech Republic," he said.

In addition, consular office will be opened in the Russian city of Vladikavkaz, which is located near the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border. The Upper Lars is the only overland road that connects Armenia with Russia and beyond across Georgia -0-
