Armenia to participate in Eastern Partnership summit and ready to sign association agreement: president

Armenia will participate in the Eastern Partnership program’s summit in Vilnius in late November and is ready to sign the Association Agreement with the EU, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) today.

Armenia will participate in the Eastern Partnership program’s summit in Vilnius in late November and is ready to sign the Association Agreement with the EU, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) today.
"We are currently negotiating with the EU on a document that we will sign,” said Sargsyan.
He said development of relations with the EU is a major goal of Armenia. He said also during the talks with EU it was clearly stated that Armenia’s relations with EU should not develop at the expense of its relations with its allies.
"I regret that our colleagues in the EU decided that Armenia’s membership in the Customs Union is incompatible with EU’s Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area agreement,” he said.
Sargsyan reiterated that Armenia is ready to continue the process of reforms and to sign the Association Agreement. -0-
