Armenia will be buying best weapons, Security Council Secretary says
YEREVAN, April 23. /ARKA/. Russia will be assisting Armenia in reforming its armed forces, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said in an interview with Russian RIA Novosti news agency.
Grigoryan described the reforms of the Russian armed forces over the past twelve years as very successful saying modernizing and optimizing the army, increasing its efficiency, introducing an automated control system and contemporary weapons have helped Russia to have one of the strongest armies in the world.
“We are confident that with the help of Russia we will build a powerful Armenian army. Regarding weapons, I would like to note that we will be buying the best weapons, and you know which country is leading in this area. At the same time, we plan to develop our military-industrial complex,” Grigoryan said.
Asked what changes are to be made to the National Security Strategy, taking into account the 2020 war in Nagorno-Karabakh and the new realities in the region, the Secretary of the Security Council noted that at the moment it is too early to talk about such changes.
“Such an opportunity will appear only after the early parliamentary elections scheduled for June 20 this year. Undoubtedly, the war has changed a lot, but a lot also remains the same. And in this sense, I believe, the strategy has not lost its relevance, "Grigoryan said. -0-
