YEREVAN, October 29. /ARКА/. Armenia would like to see Uzbekistan as a new member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with Russian daily Kommersant.
According to him, the discussion on Uzbekistan's joining the EEU is a very good process. "Relations between Armenia and Uzbekistan are developing very dynamically now," Pashinyan said.
Pashinyan said over the past 30 years there has not been an official meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Uzbekistan.
According to him, this happened for the first time in October in Ashgabat, on the sidelines of a CIS summit held in the capital of Turkmenistan, where Pashinyan had a meeting with the President of Uzbekistan.
"And of course, we, as the country currently chairing the EEU, are interested in deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan. If Tashkent decides to become a member of the EEU, it will be very good," Pashinyan said.
In response to a question about the possibility of granting observer status in the EEU to Azerbaijan, Pashinyan said; 'let us wait until such an initiative is advanced.'
