Armenian parliament to consider amendments allowing regulator to initiate proceedings against electricity operator

YEREVAN, June 27. /ARKA/. The National Assembly of Armenia, at the initiative of the government, will convene an extraordinary session on July 1, the parliament’s website reports.
The agenda includes 22 items, in particular, amendments to the laws “On Energy” and “On the Public Services Regulatory Authority”.
The amendments initiated by the ruling Civil Contract faction provide for the procedure for the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia to initiate administrative proceedings against electricity operator.
The proposed amendments provide for the establishment of an obligation for the authorized government body to send a notice in the event of a particular risk of licensees’ activities in this area and the determination of the consequences of such a notice; determination of the possibility of applying preventive measures when initiating proceedings against licensees in the energy sector; establishment of the procedure and features of applying preventive measures.
Amendments to the laws “On banks and banking activities”, “On insurance and insurance activities”, “On the securities market”, “On currency regulation and currency supervision”, “On investment funds”, “On credit organizations”, “On payment and settlement systems and payment and settlement organizations” will also be considered.
