Armenian PM announces appointment of Arpine Sargsyan as head of Interior Ministry
YEREVAN, 20 November. /ARKA/. Arpine Sargsyan, who holds the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, will be appointed head of the agency, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced today in his Facebook post.
Head of the Supreme Judicial Council (SC) Karen Andreasyan, Head of the Investigation Committee Argishti Kyaramyan, Head of the Anti-Corruption Committee (ACC) Sasun Khachatryan, Interior Minister Vahe Ghazaryan, Infrastructure Minister Gnel Sanosyan and Head of the State Revenue Committee Rustam Badasyan resigned on Monday, obeying the order of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The resignation orders were announced late on Sunday, two days after Pashinyan publicly lashed out at the judiciary and law enforcement agencies, saying they had failed to end the perceived lack of ‘justice’ in the country during his more than six-year rule.
On Monday morning, Pashinyan confirmed that he had ‘asked a number of high-ranking officials to leave their posts.’
‘The reasons why I made such a request are not personal but systemic, which I have spoken about publicly,’ he wrote on Facebook. He did not elaborate on the details.-0-
