YEREVAN, May 26. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he will personally initiate changes to the Armenian basic law if the Constitutional Court does not approve the peace deal with Azerbaijan.

“This peace process and peace treaty should not be missed. We will try to convince our public to make this change to achieve sustainable and long-term peace,” Pashinyan said at the second Yerevan Dialogue international forum on Monday.

According to him, if the Constitutional Court decides that the treaty is fully consistent with the Armenian Constitution, then in this case there will be no obstacles to the ratification of this document in the National Assembly.

“After ratification in parliament and signing by the president, this document will acquire the highest legal force in Armenia, calming the concerns of Azerbaijan. The peace treaty must be signed, and this is our main message,” Pashinyan said.

He said that “the Constitution of Azerbaijan contains certain territorial claims against Armenia, but we did not raise this issue separately because we believed that this issue would be targeted in the agreed text of the peace treaty.”

“Armenia is ready to sign a peace treaty and a document on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group at the same time,” Pashinyan said.

According to him, “the agenda for the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group is acceptable for Armenia and we are ready to move forward, but on the other hand, we would like to make sure that Armenia and Azerbaijan perceive the situation in the same way.”

“We consider it a constructive approach and proposal to have two documents on the table and sign them simultaneously,” Pashinyan said.

The prime minister said that Armenia proposes signing a peace treaty and simultaneously addressing the OSCE on the issue of dissolving the OSCE Minsk Group. –0--
