Armenian Prime Minister confirms resignation of several high-ranking officials
YEREVAN, November 18. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that several high-ranking officials will step down from their positions.
"Dear compatriots, considering the widespread discussions in the press and on social media, I find it necessary to inform you that I have asked several high-ranking officials to step down from their positions. The reasons for this request are not personal, but systemic, as I have stated publicly," Pashinyan wrote on Facebook, without naming any specific individuals.
He added that he cannot deny the contributions of these colleagues to the development of Armenian statehood and thanked everyone for their input and for accepting his request.
Criticism of Pashinyan
On November 15, during a government meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sharply criticized the security forces, stating that his patience with their performance had run out. He added that, going forward, the security forces must independently address the tasks assigned to them within the framework of his concepts.
According to information published in the press on Sunday evening, Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Rustam Badasyan, head of the Investigative Committee Argishti Kyaramyan, and head of the Anti-Corruption Committee Sasun Khachateyan are set to be dismissed.
On Monday morning, the resignations of Sasun Khachatryan and Vahe Ghazaryan were confirmed. Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Karen Andreasyan, also announced his resignation. -0-
