Armenian Prime Minister declares at PACE that the country has never been more independent

YEREVAN, September 30. /ARКА/. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Republic of Armenia is currently more independent and sovereign than ever before.

"During the snap parliamentary elections in 2021, the populace entrusted us (the mandate - ed.) with the responsibility to foster peace in Armenia. This commitment has been enshrined in the government's program for 2021-2026 as our foremost obligation to the citizens. Today, peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Pashinyan remarked while addressing PACE.

He noted that this achievement is not solely the result of the efforts of the people and parliaments of Armenia, but also of Azerbaijan.

"This outcome would not have been attainable without the involvement of US President Donald Trump and the declaration signed in Washington on August 8," Pashinyan stated.

He referred to it as a historic milestone that has ushered in peace for both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"Peace is not merely a respite; it is a continuous endeavor. Peace resembles a newborn child, necessitating constant nurturing. Our newly established peace is now one month and 22 days old. We must tend to it diligently to ensure its growth and strength," Pashinyan expressed.

Additionally, he highlighted the significance of clarifying the situations of missing individuals and addressing the issues faced by those who have been deprived of their freedom due to the prolonged conflict.

The seven-point declaration signed following the trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington includes the initialing of the “Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan”, the joint application to the OSCE on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group mechanisms, the unblocking of regional communications within the framework of the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of countries and on the basis of reciprocity, as well as the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project.-0--
