Armenian Security Council denies information on transfer of part of the territory of the Republic of Armenia to Azerbaijan during delimitation

YEREVAN, June 13. /ARKA/. The Office of the Security Council of Armenia has denied information from one of the Armenian media outlets about the planned transfer of part of the territory of the Republic of Armenia to Azerbaijan as a result of the border delimitation.
“The information presented in the articles published on the Hraparak.am website on June 10 (“Hadjiyev and Armen Grigoryan have already outlined the border: according to the project, another 180 sq. km will be transferred to the enemy”), June 11 (“We will transfer approximately 6 times more territory than we will receive: map”) and June 12 (“As a result of delimitation, we will transfer more than we will receive: map 2”), is absolutely untrue, this is false and fictitious information,” the RA Security Council Office noted in its refutation on Facebook.
It states that all issues related to the process of delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border are discussed exclusively within the framework of the joint work of the Armenian Commission on Delimitation of the State Border between Armenia and Azerbaijan and Border Security, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, and the Azerbaijani Commission on Delimitation of the State Border of Azerbaijan and Armenia, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
The department once again emphasized that any issues related to the delimitation process are discussed exclusively within the framework of the above-mentioned commission.
On the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called the delimitation and demarcation process that has begun in the Tavush region, in particular, near the village of Kirants, which borders Azerbaijan, successful.
On August 30, 2024, Yerevan and Baku signed a regulation on the joint work of the Armenian and Azerbaijani commissions on delimitation and demarcation of the state border. On October 24, the document was ratified in Yerevan and Baku by the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The regulation provides for the regulation of procedural issues between the two countries after the signing of the state border agreement.
Following the meeting of the Commissions on State Border Delimitation Issues held on January 16, 2025, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan and Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, the parties agreed to begin work on delimiting the state border from the northern section - from the junction point of the borders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and further in the southern direction - from north to south, to the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan with Iran.
