Armenian Academy of Sciences demands government's resignation
YEREVAN, November 25. /ARKA/. The governing body of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia demands the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

After a November 24 meeting, it issued a statement on the situation that has emerged as a result of the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Armenia.

The statement describes the agreement signed between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia on November 9 to end the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone as a 'humiliating document' that gives large chunks of Artsakh land to Azerbaijan, restricts its sovereignty, and is creating a difficult  moral and psychological atmosphere in  two Armenian states.

The statement regards the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh as the exclusive guarantor of salvation from the genocidal Turkish-Azerbaijani policy aimed at the destruction of Armenians.

It also says that the deployment has established stability in the region.' We highly appreciate the decisive role of the Armenian Armed Forces in protecting the territory under the control of the Artsakh authorities. We call on all in every possible way to exclude the demoralization of the army, to promote its replenishment, strengthening and modernization,' the statement says.

The statement strongly condemns what it describes as 'the long-term passive attitude of the Armenia's authorities to science, as a result of which it became impossible to apply modern scientific and technological achievements in the country's defense system.

'We consider the spread of enmity, revenge, mistrust, and hatred in society inadmissible, and we call for decisive efforts to create an atmosphere of solidarity and unity and in this condition we deem ineffective further operation of the current government and demand its resignation together with the prime minister.'

From September 27 to November 9,  Azerbaijani Armed Forces, backed by  Turkey and foreign mercenaries and terrorists, attacked Nagorno-Karabakh along the entire  front line using rocket and artillery weapons, heavy armored vehicles, military aircraft and prohibited types of weapons such as cluster bombs and  phosphorus weapons. The strikes were delivered also at civil and military targets on the territory of Armenia.

On November 9, the leaders of the Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement on the cessation of all hostilities in Artsakh. According to the document, Shushi, Agdam, Kelbajar and Lachin regions pass over to Azerbaijan, with the exception of a 5-kilometer corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia.

A Russian peacekeeping contingent has been  deployed along the contact line in Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. Internally displaced persons and refugees are returning to Karabakh and adjacent regions, prisoners of war, hostages and other detained persons and bodies of the dead are being exchanged. M.V.---0-
