Armenian ambassador-at-large explains why Karabakh cannot be compared to Donetsk or Kosovo

YEREVAN, March 24. /ARKA/. 'With its entire legal and political history Nagorno-Karabakh is incomparable with the Donetsk, Luhansk or Serbs of Kosovo, because it has always been an autonomy, and a self-proclaimed state in the last 30 years. Moreover, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict predated the collapse of USSR, unlike those listed,' Armenia's ambassador-at-large Edmon Marukyan said in a tweet.
'Hence, while looking for a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, the international community should take into account the entire historical legal-political background, otherwise any solution built upon irrelevant examples will lead to the deepening of the problem and its non-resolution,' he said.
Marukyan's tweet comes as retaliation to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arguments, who speaking at a joint press conference with visiting Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on March 20, cited the Minsk agreements, recalling that they called for providing the Russian speaking residents of eastern Ukraine with the rights to educate their children in their native language, to preserve their culture, religion, to elect their local self-governments and to conduct economic and trade relations with their compatriots in Russia..
"I think that the same set of rights will be necessary for Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians," Lavrov said. -0-
