Armenian and Montenegrin presidents call for immediate return of Armenian prisoners of war from Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, May 27. /ARKA/. Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan and his Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic have called today in Yerevan for immediate return of Armenian prisoners of war to their homeland from Azerbaijan.
Djukanovic who arrived in Armenia on an official visit on May 26 and Khachaturyan discussed this and other issues at a meeting today.
"During our conversation, we stressed the need for the immediate return of Armenian prisoners of war to their homeland and the speedy resolution of other humanitarian issues, including the preservation of the Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani-controlled territories," Khachaturyan said after the meeting.
Khachaturyan said also that the sides discussed in detail the prospects and practical steps to expand and strengthen mutually beneficial Armenian-Montenegrin relations.
"We looked into the possibilities for deepening bilateral economic cooperation and increasing the volume of trade. We noted that there is great potential for cooperation in the areas of tourism and information technology," he said.
Khachaturyan said they also touched on the prospects for cooperation in the areas of industry, healthcare, and renewable energy.
"We discussed with our colleague Armenia's efforts to establish a stable peace in the region. I am pleased to record the commonality of our positions on bilateral, regional and international issues," he said.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan earlier said that 39 Armenian prisoners are still being held in Azerbaijan. -0-
