Armenian authorities don’t want to tackle price rise problem
YEREVAN, February 14. /ARKA/. Armenia’s governing institutions don’t want to tackle the price rise problem, Armen Poghosyan, head of the Protection of Consumers’ Rights NGO, said on Tuesday.

He said the price hikes were noticed and fixed by the organization, and the matter has been discussed with the State Revenue Committee, the State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition and the Food Safety Agency.

In his words, they all are trying to distance themselves from the problem and push it out of their competence.

In his opinion, the authorities and nongovernmental organizations should work together to find solutions to such problems, but nothing like that is seen in Armenia.

Poghosyan said that the population has a right to express its discord over things.

“To express discord and attend rallies etc. is citizens’ right -, and more than that – this is an obligation,” he said. “We shouldn’t stay indifferent to public phenomena, but instead of supporting protesters we watch on TV how some Narcissuses are hurling their mockeries toward them.”

YELQ opposition bloc reacted to the price hikes by staging two marches on January 19 and February 5. -0---
