YEREVAN, February 14. /ARKA/. The Armenian authorities are embarking on a new campaign against the mass media, Zhoghovurd (People) reports.
According to the media resource, the bill proposing to conduct the Cabinet’s meeting behind closed doors is just the first step on this way.
The bill also proposes to make ministries’ activities less transparent and information more restricted.
The authorities will release to public information at their own and sole discretion.
They think initially some public discord is possible, but later everybody will come to terms with the situation.
Zhoghovurd also says that this bill has been put forward in a bid to revive Soviet-era traditions, when the most important events were hidden from the population, and the press was forced to write only about achievements. --0---
