Armenian, Azerbaijani sides to meet on issue of prisoners and missing persons, but deadline not yet set - NSS chief
YEREVAN, October 29. /ARКА/. It is expected that a meeting with the Azerbaijani side on the issue of prisoners and missing persons will be organized in the near future, Director of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia Armen Abazyan said on Monday.
"It is quite possible that such a meeting will be organized in the near future. I will not name the dates, but it is quite possible that a meeting of the commission will be held in the near future," Abazyan said.
According to him, there is no decision on the dates and place yet.
On Armenian prisoners in Baku
Azerbaijan officially confirms that it holds only 33 Armenian prisoners of war and civilians, but Armenian human rights activists claim that there are another 80 Armenian prisoners there.
Among the prisoners are former State Minister of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Ruben Vardanyan, former presidents Bako Sahakyan, Arkady Ghukasyan and Arayik Harutyunyan, former speaker of parliament David Ishkhanyan, former Foreign Minister David Babayan, former commander of the Defense Army Levon Mnatsakanyan and former deputy commander David Manukyan. -0-
