Armenia’s Control Chamber has declared the start of inspections in provincial social services, but has said they will last long years, Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Time) reports.

YEREVAN, June 1. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Control Chamber has declared the start of inspections in provincial social services, but has said they will last long years, Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Time) reports.   

According to the newspaper, all files, especially those relating to benefits, will be examined.

Aram Alaverdyan, the investigative committee spokesman, told the newspaper that now inspections are being carried out in Shirak province.  

He said that the results of the inspection will be released to public after completion of the scrutiny. 

“This is a huge work that will last not one year, but we have decided to inspect every case and it is difficult to say when we will complete it,” Ishkhan Zakaryan, head of the Control Chamber, said on May 17 as presented the chamber’s activity report in the National Assembly.  

The 2015 inspections in Aragatsotn and Kotayk provinces have revealed the damage amounting to AMD 105.5 million.

As a result, some provincial officials have been dismissed and probes have been launched into some cases. ($1 –AMD  477.66). --0---
