YEREVAN, April 3. /ARKA/. Armenian defense ministry press secretary Shushan Stepanyan accused today Azerbaijani official information sources of disseminating false and fabricated information about the situation on the border between the two states.
She meant the official statements made on April 1 and 3 by the Azerbaijani border service alleging that Armenian troops opened fire in the direction of Azerbaijani villages, military positions, vehicles and Azerbaijani citizens engaged in agricultural work. Shushan Petrsoyan described these allegations as lies.
She said this way, the Azerbaijani side is trying to cover its own actions, the purpose of which is to destabilize the situation on the border. 'Similar lies had been disseminated before the unsuccessful Azerbaijani sabotage on March 30," Stepanyan said in a Facebook post.
The spokeswoman said the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border remains calm. "The armed forces of the Republic of Armenia will resort only to proportionate steps," she wrote.
On March 30, two Armenian servicemen guarding the border with Azerbaijan were wounded by Azerbaijani troops as their unit repelled the attack. According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, the soldiers sustained light wounds. A 14 year-old boy was wounded in the chest when Azerbaijani forces shot at two Armenian villages located in the area: Baghanis and Voskevan. The boy was later operated on and transported to a Yerevan clinic. -0-
