Armenian defense ministry denies reports about advancement of Azerbaijani troops

YEREVAN, March 15. /ARKA/ Armenia’s Defense Ministry has denied today local mass media reports claiming that Azerbaijani troops have advanced into the Armenian territory.

“We categorically deny these allegations. In the area, mentioned in the false reports, which is under Azerbaijani control, Azerbaijani units have several positions that are not equipped and cannot be used in the winter. Now, due to changing weather conditions, the Azerbaijani military are returning to these positions. There can be no talk of any advance of Azerbaijani troops into the Armenian territory,” the Defense Ministry told the Armenpress mews agency.

The ministry said in this as well as in all other sections of the border, the Armenian armed forces are fulfilling their tasks, including monitoring any movement of the Azerbaijani troops and controlling the situation along the border.

The ministry once again urged citizens to follow only official information when disseminating information about the border situation.

Earlier on Tuesday, Armenian mass media and social networks claimed that a group of armed Azerbaijanis advanced deep into the Armenian territory near  the village of Nerkin Hand in the Syunik region of Armenia bordering Iran and Azerbaijan.  According to these reports, the Azerbaijani military are going to place a military outpost there. --0--
