YEREVAN, July 9. / ARKA /. Tigran Balayan, the press secretary of the Armenian foreign ministry, said the Armenian embassy in Egypt received no requests from Armenian holidaymakers in that country to help them return home.
Earlier, Tigran Balayan said apart from holidaymakers there were also 400 Armenian citizens in Egypt. According to reports, the protests in Egypt has spread to tourist areas, affecting, in particular, the city of Hurghada, a popular tourist destination.
"The Armenian Embassy in Cairo has not received requests from citizens of Armenia to help them return home, although there are Armenian tourists in this country. Travel agencies are organizing the return of those tourists whose vacation is ending," Balayan said.
On July 2 the Armenian foreign ministry recommended its citizens not to visit Egypt unless absolutely necessary, and advised those in that country to stay away from crowded places, and in the case of problems to contact the Armenian Embassy in Cairo by calling +202 27374157 ". -0-
