YEREVAN, September 22, /ARKA/. On September 21, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Comfort Ero , the President of the International Crisis Group, in New York, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

It said in the course of the meeting, a number of issues on regional and international security were discussed. Ararat Mirzoyan briefed upon the position of the Armenian side regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Minister Mirzoyan also drew the interlocutor's attention to the recent aggression unleashed by the Azerbaijani armed forces against the sovereign territory of Armenia. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia noted that Azerbaijan attempts to achieve its maximalist demands and aspirations by using force and threatening to use force, which torpedoes the stability and security of the region. The importance of targeted and impartial response by international organizations was emphasized.

Around midnight on September 13, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack in the southern and southeastern directions of the Republic of Armenia, encroaching on the territorial integrity of Armenia.

The aggression was carried out with the use of artillery, mortars and UAVs, including not only in the Armenia-Azerbaijan bordering area, but also in the areas of Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish and Ishkhanasar settlements and their civilian infrastructure of Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions.

On September 14, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to cease fire on the border as of 8 p.m. Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan said in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia. that the ceasefire was brokered by Armenia's international partners. According to Prime Minister Pashinyan, 207 Armenian soldiers were killed and went missing in clashes with Azerbaijani troops. Azerbaijan said it lost 79 soldiers.-0-
