YEREVAN, September 29. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council on Monday, the press service of the government reported.
It said in addition to the members of the Security Council, the meeting was also attended by Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, Speaker of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan, Head of the Prime Minister's Office Eduard Aghajanyan and Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructur Suren Papikyan.
The meeting discussed the operational situation in the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border zone and the actions of Armenian armed forces aimed at inflicting a commensurate counterstrike on the enemy.
Azerbaijani troops began large-scale offensive operations in the Araks valley and in the Mataghis-Talish direction late on Monday, a spokesman for the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan wrote in a Facebook post.
He said the Artsakh Defense Army successfully resisted all attacks and inflicted significant damage to Azerbaijani manpower and military hardware, destroying 22 battle tanks and 10 units of other armored vehicles, killing more than 370 Azerbaijani soldiers and wounding many others. According to Hovhannisyan, 35% of them received severe wounds.-0-
