Armenian government and parliament carry out large-scale works to open Lachin corridor - Grigoryan

YEREVAN, December 23. /ARKA/. The government and the parliament are carrying out large-scale work to have the Lachin corridor, blocked by Azerbaijanis, opened, secretary of Armenia's Security Council Armen Grigoryan said when addressing the parliament today.
"The executive and legislative authorities of Armenia are jointly carrying out large-scale work with all their partners so that the Lachin corridor is opened as soon as possible and returned to its previous status, that is, to serve as a road for transportation of people and goods without any control," Grigoryan said.
The Lachin corridor, the only road linking Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia has been blocked by group of Azerbaijanis since December 12. They demand that their government be allowed to inspect “illegal” mining operations in Karabakh.
In the meantime, Nagorno-Karabakh health Ministry said seven patients of the National Medical Center were in the intensive care units, four of whom in an extremely serious condition.
"Doctors are doing everything possible to stabilize the condition of the patients," it said.
There are also 11 children in the intensive care and neonatal departments of the Arevik medical center. The health condition of a 4-month-old baby, who was diagnosed with Visceral Leishmaniasis, continues to be serious, the ministry said.
It also noted that due to the blockade by Azerbaijan of the only road linking Artsakh with Armenia, scheduled surgeries are still suspended. -0-
