Armenian government approves Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with European Union

The Armenian government has approved today the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed on November 24, 2017 with the European Union, as well as with the European Atomic Community and member states.
YEREVAN, December 28. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved today the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed on November 24, 2017 with the European Union, as well as with the European Atomic Community and member states.
Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian said, while presenting the document, that this framework agreement raises bilateral relations between Armenia and the EU to a new partnership level. According to the minister, the provisions of the agreement take into account Armenia's obligations to other integration formats as well, meaning the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union.
Nalbandian said the CEPA regulates Armenia-EU political dialogue, economic and trade relations, cooperation in various fields, encourages the continuation of political and economic reforms. He said now the agreement will be sent to parliament for ratification.
Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan signed December 25 a decree establishing an inter-agency commission to implement the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) The inter-agency commission is to ensure the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, as well as the implementation of the Partnership Priorities document, signed with European Atomic Energy Community and member countries on November 20.
The inter-agency commission will coordinate the work of the competent authorities of Armenia with the EU and member countries as part of the trade and economic cooperation, provided for by the agreement and document, also approve the measures developed by the state authorities, including those aimed at implementing reforms.
The commission will be chaired by deputy prime minister Vache Gabrielyan.-0-
