Armenian government has no intention to struggle against monopolies
YEREVAN, February 4. /ARKA/. Armenia’s government is not struggling against monopolies and has no intention to do it in the future, Armenian Economy Minister Karen Chshmarityan told journalists on Wednesday.

“The government’s policy and appropriate laws are focused on struggle against monopoly abuse and anticompetitive collusions,” he said.

Chshmarityan finds it is impossible to rid Armenia of monopolies.

“Let’s look at things in 2000, when legislative initiatives related to this area were discussed,” he said.

“Some people then demanded prohibition of monopolies. But we had many monopolist companies in chemical industry, electric engineering, tool engineering and light industry.”

In his words, the antitrust agency struggles against abuse of monopoly. --0---
