Armenian, Iranian chief prosecutors emphasize protection of region from international terrorism
 
						YEREVAN, October 13. /ARKA/. Iranian Prosecutor General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri arrived October 12 in Armenia on a three-day working visit at the invitation of Armenian Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, the press service of the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office reported.
It said this is the first visit of the Prosecutor General of Iran to Armenia over the past 8 years. During the October 12 meeting, the chief prosecutors discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of the two countries.
In the context of the fight against transnational crime, Montazeri and Davtyan emphasized the importance of protecting the region from international terrorism, the need to exclude the presence of terrorist groups in the region, which is more important after the deployment of such groups in the conflict zone during the war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in 2020 autumn.
The Prosecutor General of Armenia highly appreciated the emphasized position of the Iranian side's intolerance on this issue and expressed Armenia's readiness to participate in any format in the joint struggle against this evil.
Montazeri also highlighted the challenge of confronting this threat to regional peace and security, saying that Iran will not tolerate the spread of terrorism in its immediate vicinity. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed. -0-
