Armenian, Iranian investigative bodies to step up cooperation

The head of Armenia’s Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan and the head of General Inspection Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nasser Seraj, have signed a memorandum of understanding today in Yerevan.

YEREVAN, July 13. /ARKA/. The head of Armenia’s Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan and the head of General Inspection Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nasser Seraj, have signed a memorandum of understanding today in Yerevan.
According to the document, the parties have agreed to cooperate in the fight against corruption, protection of human rights, as well as in the implementation of other powers of two departments in accordance with their national laws and generally accepted principles of international law, Armenia’s Investigative Committee said in a press release.
The document calls also for mutual visits of delegations and experts, organization of forums, workshops, scientific conferences and round tables.
During a meeting before the signing ceremony the sides emphasized the exchange of operational information on criminal cases and provision of legal aid. They also identified specific areas of cooperation.
Seraj is in Armenia at the invitation of Aghvan Hovsepyan. -0-
