Armenian Justice Minister resigns

YEREVAN, October 1. /ARKA/. Armenian Justice Minister Grigor Minasyan has submitted his resignation.

“Today I decided to join the collection of signatures against my tenure. I have submitted my resignation to the Prime Minister,” Minasyan wrote on his Facebook page.

Earlier, a number of local media outlets wrote that many in the ruling Civil Contract party were dissatisfied with Minasyan and initiated a collection of signatures demanding his resignation.

“I was informed that I have problems with about two dozen deputies of the Civil Contract faction. I am very grateful and will always remember with fondness all other deputies who welcomed and supported me, all colleagues in the government who became my friends, and, of course, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan who gave me the greatest opportunity,” Minasyan said. He indicated that he decided to return to private practice.

Recently, the head of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Affairs Andranik Kocharyan, commenting on the demand for Minasyan's resignation for journalists, called “inadmissible and dangerous” the latter's words that a certain MP is allegedly “building intrigues” against Deputy Minister of Justice Sirvard Gevorgyan (she resigned on September 26, 2024 - ed.).

Grigor Minasyan, 41, was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia in January 2022 and became the head of the Ministry of Justice in December of the same year. -0-
