Armenian minister: Baku says its ambassadors to UN and OSCE acted independently in their attempts to denounce 1994 ceasefire agreement
YEREVAN, May 5. /ARKA/. Baku states that its ambassadors to the UN and the OSCE acted on their own initiative when tried to unilaterally denounce the 1994 trilateral ceasefire agreement on Karabakh, Edward Nalbandian, Armenian foreign minister, said Wednesday in Prague.

“Elmar Mamediarov told the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs that Azerbaiajni ambassadors to the UN and the OSCE acted on their own initiative,” Nalbandian is quoted in the press release as saying Wednesday in Prague at a joint news conference of Eastern Partnership and Vishegrad Group (V4) countries' foreign ministers.

Earlier, the Armenian foreign ministry blamed the Azerbaijani side for its attempts to denounce the 1994 ceasefire agreement.

Nalbandian said Azerbaijan continues violating the ceasefire. It is also bringing its heavy weaponry to the line of contact, building up its bellicose rhetoric and resorting to provocative propaganda on the world's platform, accusing the Armenian side of the moves it does itself.

In his words, this means Azerbaijan is preparing ground for new military assaults, which can have heavy consequences for the entire region.

«Today, it is imperative to preclude the future reoccurrence of what happened in the beginning of April, to ensure that the dangerous attempts on seeking military solution to the issue will be effectively curbed, he said.

«The implementation of the confidence building measures proposed by the Co-chairs will certainly serve that purpose, including the creation of the mechanism of investigation for the violations of the cease-fire and capacity enhancement of the team of the Personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. Such concrete steps could allow to restore the negotiation environment and continue the peace process.»

«Armenia will spare no efforts working together with the co-chair countries towards the exclusively peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,» Nalbandian added.

On April 2, 2016 Azerbaijan launched military assaults along the entire perimeter of its contact line with Nagorno Karabakh.

A ceasefire arrangement was announced four days later, but the Azerbaijani side violates it every night. -0----
