Armenian NA Speaker explains why it is better to start delimitation of Armenian-Azerbaijani border from Tavush

YEREVAN, March 27. /ARKA/. Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan explained today why the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border should be started from Tavush region.
"By and large, there are no particularly controversial points on this section of the border," Simonyan told reporters in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
According to him, there are also no problems and controversial issues regarding the delimitation of the Armenian-Georgian border.
Azerbaijan refuses to recognize that it has occupied parts of f 31 villages in Armenia and at the same time demands the handover of territories located near 4 villages in Tavush - Baganis, Voskepar, Kirants and Berkaber. The interstate highway running from Armenia to to Georgia passes through these territories.
On March 12, Pashinyan claimed that "there has never been and cannot be any discussion about surrendering the villages in Tavush region to Azerbaijan". However, on March 18, he went to meet with residents of these villages in Tavush and warned them that Azerbaijan would start a new war if these territories are not given to it.
‘There are no villages on the territory of Armenia and, in particular, in Tavush region, which could be a subject of discussions on their possible surrender to Azerbaijan,’ Alen Simonyan said.
"I am looking for and not finding those who believe and can prove that these villages are a territory of a Republic of Armenia," Simonyan told reporters.
He described opposition’s claims that these villages belong to Armenia another manipulation, generating certain processes around the issue.
"Not a single centimeter of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia is subject to bargaining. We don't even want to think about it," the head of the parliament emphasized.
Asked whether the authorities have calculated the danger of destroying the defense line on this section of the border, which has been built for many years, which is inevitable in case of withdrawl from these villages, Simonyan said, "Yes. This is what is at the heart of everything."
According to the speaker, a map signed by Armenia and Azerbaijan will be used as a basis for boder delimitation.-0-
