Armenian NSS to take strict measures to prevent possible violations during June 20 early elections

YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. Armenia's National Security Service (NSS) said today it will take strict measures to prevent and identify possible violations during the June 20 snap parliamentary elections and will fight against violations of constitutional rights and civil liberties of citizens, describing the upcoming polls as an event of national significance.
In a statement released on Monday, the National Security Service recalls that the Criminal Code of the country provides for strict responsibility for obstructing the exercise of electoral rights and the work of election commissions, for providing false information, submitting false documents or forcing a voter to report the results of voting in violation of the secrecy of voting, for checking ballot paper in order to find out the result of voting, for entering the voting booth, bribing voters and receiving bribes, for obstruction of the free expression of the will of the voter, etc.
The NSS also called on all political parties and blocs contesting the elections to demonstrate responsible behavior, refrain from illegal actions that disrupt the normal electoral process. It said also it fully controls the operational situation and will take adequate measures to identify, suppress and neutralize criminal acts.
The Central Election Commission has registered the electoral lists of 4 party blocs and 22 parties running in the elections. The campaign starts on June 7 and ends on midnight June 18. --0--
