Armenian ombudsman submits resignation to National Assembly

Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan submitted Wednesday his resignation to the National Assembly, Arsen Babayan, the parliament spokesman, reported on his Facebook page.
YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan submitted Wednesday his resignation to the National Assembly, Arsen Babayan, the parliament spokesman, reported on his Facebook page.
The word of Andreasyan’s resignation appeared on Tuesday.
“The ombudsman thanks all his partners for cooperation and expresses hope that human rights protection will remain a priority for our country and society,” the ombudsman posted on his Facebook page.
It is also said in the press release that there will be no other comments on the matter.
Arsen Babayan also remembered that in accordance with the law, early dismissal of the ombudsman must be approved by a simple majority of MPs and in one month after that another ombudsman is elected. Before the new appointment, deputy ombudsman fulfils the duty.
Andreasayn took office on March 2, 2011. ---0----
