Armenian parliament elects Anahit Manasyan as new human rights defender

By a vote of 69 the Armenian National Assembly has elected today Anahit Manasyan as the country's new human rights defender.
YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. By a vote of 69 the Armenian National Assembly has elected today Anahit Manasyan as the country's new human rights defender. There were no votes 'against' or abstentions.
Former deputy prosecutor general Anahit Manasyan was nominated by the ruling Civil Contract party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The nomination of opposition's candidate Edgar Ghazaryan was not approved of by the parliamentary standing committee on state and legal issues.
Anahit Manasyan is replacing Kristine Grigoryan who resigned in late January long before the end of her term of office.-0-
