YEREVAN, December 29. /ARKA/. At its extraordinary session on Tuesday, the Armenian parliament elected Karen Arustamyan as a new member of the Audit Chamber. As many as 104 MPs took part in the voting, of which 103 voted for, and 1 against.
Arustamyan's candidacy has been re-nominated for this position. During the previous voting, the candidate from the ruling faction did not receive the support of the lawmakers - he did not have enough to elect only one vote. His candidacy was supported by only 79 MPs, while at least 80 were required for election.
Arustamyan himself said that in his new position, he intends to introduce the highest and modern standards of audit and eliminate possible risks and arbitrariness and increase the level of work carried out to ensure a high level of reporting.
“It is also necessary to introduce a quality control and management system, which, among other things, will allow fixing the shortcomings and omissions of the staff of the Audit Chamber,” Arustamyan said.
Introducing the new member of the chamber, Artak Manukyan, an MP from the ruling faction My Step, deputy head of the financial-credit and budgetary commission, called this appointment very important for the full functioning of state institutions.
He also recalled that Arustamyan has been serving as an acting member of the Audit Chamber since April 3, 2020.
For his part, independent MP Arman Babajanyan stated that the re-introduction of this candidate is a clear manifestation of protectionism and "an attempt to push your man into the Audit Chamber”.
Arustamyan graduated from the Yerevan State Economic University with a degree in accounting and audit. Since 1998, he worked in the banking system, after which, since 2004, he held various positions in the state system - the State Tax Service, since 2005 he worked in the Control Chamber, and since 2018 - in the Audit Chamber. - 0--
