Armenian parliament passes government-proposed program
YEREVAN, June 22. /ARKA/. The Armenian National Assembly passed the government’s program for 2017-2022 on Thursday at its extraordinary session.

As many as 64 MPs voted for the program – all from the ruling coalition parties, while 31 lawmakers from Tsarukyan bloc and YELQ (Way Out) opposition bloc cast their votes against it.

Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, thanked his fellow partisans, Armenian Republicans, and his ruling coalition partners from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation/Dashnaktsutiun for support.

In his words, some proposals voiced during the discussion were included in the program.

Karapetyan said that along with constructive statements, “there were also emotional, incorrect, personal and shortsighted remarks”.

He objected to the statement that the program is not progressive and will let the government go round in circles.

In his opinion, such statements are groundless. He insists that the government has worked out a well-thought-out program, which is expected to produce results.

The premier also stressed that the program had been discussed with some “prominent Armenian and foreign experts”.

He said the government needs support to put what it plans into reality. --0---
