Armenian parliament to improve working conditions for accredited journalists

The Armenian parliament will upgrade the technical equipment and working conditions for accredited journalists in 2018, the head of the parliament staff Ara Saghatelyan said today during a discussion on the draft budget for the next year.

YEREVAN, November 1. /ARKA/. The Armenian parliament will upgrade the technical equipment and working conditions for accredited journalists in 2018, the head of the parliament staff Ara Saghatelyan said today during a discussion on the draft budget for the next year.
He said two additional areas will be created for journalists to increase the effectiveness of their work. ‘In other words, special areas furnished with modern equipment, air-conditioners, computers and the Internet will be allocated in the National Assembly for journalists," he said, adding that the accredited journalists can watch sessions from there, and not sit in corridors.
He said the budget of the Armenian National Assembly in 2018 will increase by 500 billion drams to 4 billion 585 million drams, but the staff’s salary fund will be cut by 255 million drams.
"In 2018, 43 million drams will be allocated for the purchase of administrative equipment, which will improve the technical conditions of the Armenian parliament," Saghatelyan said.
The Armenian government approved the draft budget for 2018 at a meeting on September 28. It calls for 1 trillion 307 billion drams in revenues and 1 trillion 464.2 billion drams in spending. The projected deficit is 156.9 billion drams. ($ 1 - 482.87 drams) -0-
