Armenian PM, EU delegation discussed situation in South Caucasus

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received in Yerevan on Friday a delegation led by Isabelle Dumont, representative of the French Presidency of the EU Council and advisor to the French presidential office, and Toivo Klaar, the EU special representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, the press service of the Armenian government said.

YEREVAN, January 21. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received in Yerevan on Friday a delegation led by Isabelle Dumont, representative of the French Presidency of the EU Council and advisor to the French presidential office, and Toivo Klaar, the EU special representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, the press service of the Armenian government said.

It said the sides discussed the situation in the South Caucasus region after the 44-day war (in Nagorno-Karabakh in autumn 2020) and steps taken to reduce tension and stabilize the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

In particular, there was an exchange of views on the results of Pashinyan's meetings in Sochi with the president of Russia, as well as with the president of the European Council and with the president of France in Brussels and the implementation of the agreements reached.

The need to restart the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to achieve a lasting settlement of the conflict and to intensify their activities was stressed.

Earlier on Friday, an EU delegation led by Dumont and Klaar met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan. -0-
