YEREVAN, May 29. /ARKA/. During a meeting today in Yerevan with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan underscored the importance of the consistent advancement of Armenia's relations with the EU and constructive dialogue in all areas.

Pashinyan said it was necessary for Armenia and the EU that all EU member states ratify the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) as soon as possible and expressed confidence that this will give a new push to bilateral cooperation and contribute to the effective implementation of reforms in various areas in Armenia.

Klaar was quoted by the Armenian government press office as stressing the need for giving a new impetus to Armenia's relations with the EU and expressed hope that before the ratification of the CEPA, the bilateral interaction will continue to expand in the context of its provisional implementation.

The two men were said to have discussed also a number of issues related to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Pashinyan noted that Armenia is committed to the peaceful resolution of the conflict in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and attached importance to involving the civil society of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in confidence-building measures, which he said will contribute to the establishment of a constructive atmosphere and the negotiation process.

The CEPA was signed on November 24, 2017, at the fifth summit of the EU’s "Eastern Partnership Program" in Brussels. The document will come into force after all 28 EU member states and Armenia ratify it. So far it has been ratified by Armenia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. -0-
