Armenian Police said they have completed verification of voter lists ahead of December 6 referendum on constitutional reforms.

YEREVAN, November 6. / ARKA /. Armenian Police said they have completed verification of voter lists ahead of December 6 referendum on constitutional reforms. Head of Passports and Visa Department of the Police Mnatsakan Bichakhchyan said voter lists are drawn up on the basis of the register of voters, which, in turn, is based on data from the State Register of Population. He said one citizen can not be registered at different addresses.
According to him, 30 days before the referendum, the total number of eligible voters stands at 2,554,332 people, although the state register of the population has a total of 3, 317,965 names of citizens.
According to him, Armenian Police have checked all the signals about possible abuses and took all the necessary measures.
"The Register has 218 people with completely identical data. The data about these people are drawn up in a separate list with photographs,' he said.
Bichakhchyan downplayed opposition's allegations that about 182,000 people with ID cards could vote several times (ID cards, unlike passports, will not be stamped).
The package of constitutional reforms calls for Armenia's transition from the so-called semi-presidential form of governance to parliamentary republic. -0-
