YEREVAN, May 17. /ARKA/. Armenian police have detained today morning some 286 anti-government demonstrators for blocking streets in the capital Yerevan demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Edgar Janoyan, a spokesman for Police, told Novosti-Armenia news agency.

On Tuesday morning, the anti-government demonstrators led by two parliament-represented opposition alliances Hayastan and Pativ Unem, have resumed civil disobedience campaign.

Opposition activists and supporters blocked several major streets, including Mashtots Avenue in the center, Abovyan, Saryan and Alek Manukyan streets, Isahakyan-Teryan intersection, Baghramyan Avenue, as well as streets in the north of the city, Shengavit, Kanaker-Zeytun and other areas.

There was a scuffle between the protesters and policemen on Mashtots Avenue and Pushkin Street. Law enforcement officers detained the protesters, including with the use of brute force.

In different parts of the city, groups of protesters are marching toward the center, chanting "Armenia without Nikol."

The opposition accuses Pashinyan of planning to place Nagorno-Karabakh under Azerbaijani control. -0-
