YEREVAN, July 25. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will fly Thursday to Saint Petersburg to attend a session of the Eurasian Economic Union’s intergovernmental council, which is to be held at the level of prime ministers, Pashinyan reports on his Facebook page.

He says that, as it is known, after constitutional reforms in Armenia, the country’s prime minister is included in the supreme economic council of the Eurasian Economic Union, which holds its meetings at the level of country leaders.

The matter has also settled de jure, and Armenia will be represented here by the prime minister.

“However, the legal regulation of the work of the union’s intergovernmental council is not brought in tune with the constitutional changes implemented in Armenia, and in the event of my absence from the session, the council members will be not able to make decisions, and the council will be paralyzed,” Pashinyan said.

He stressed that even in the days of the velvet revolution he stated that Armenia’s aim is not to paralyze the Eurasian Economic Union’s activity, but quite the opposite – he said it is necessary to do whatever is possible to enhance the effectiveness of the country’s membership in this organization.

“Taking this into account, I decided to travel to Saint Petersburg,” the prime minister said. --0---
